The Book Fair Where Everyone Reads

Two years ago, the PTO approached Gerrity’s the Fresh Grocer (Valley Farm Market) with a dream: What if every kid at Lincoln could experience the magic of the Scholastic Book Fair? In years prior, a high percentage of our kids weren’t able to participateβ€”and a bin of pre-purchased free books just wasn’t cutting it, not with those glorious brand-new Dogman and Babysitters’ Club graphic novels sitting feet away. Gerrity’sβ€”a company started by a mom and former teacherβ€”just got it. For two years running, they have donated $1000 to our Book Fair coffers so that we can offer every Lincoln Lion the literacy experience the Book Fair sparks: When kids choose a book, and own that book, they’re more likely to stay interested in reading. By combining Gerrity’s donation with our accrued Scholastic Dollars, we’re proud to say that two years in a row, every single kid has come to the book fair and left with the title of their choosingβ€”regardless of price point and how much they brought to spend.

Just check out the magic that happens when the book fair goes fully inclusive…
